Pagdiwata Ritual Festival
This is a festival which is celebrated by the Tagbuana. It is intended to express thanks to the deities and is also a time when the local people ask those deities for assistance in healing the sick. People with serious health conditions sometimes come to the area during this time but they pose no serious threat to travelers interested in enjoying the festival.
Tarek Festival
For the Tagbanua, the Pagdiwata festival is a time of somber celebration. In contrast, the Tarek Festival is a lively celebration. It takes place around the same time but is the dance portion of the annual event.
Lambay Festival
This festival has been going on for hundreds of years, celebrating the beginning of hunting and gathering season. Today, it is a celebration of spring.
Cuyo Fiesta
Soot-covered revellers perform a street dance to frenzied drumbeats in this celebration. Taking the camera to this festivity is a ‘must-do’.
Feast of the Immaculate Conception (December)
A celebration in honour of the city's patroness and highlighted by a parade and a procession of colourfully adorned floats and images of the Virgin Mary. Don’t forget your camera.
Kalugta’n Arts Festival
This festival takes place in May in the city of El Nido . It is a relatively new festival which just began a couple of years ago but it is already highly popular with both locals and travelers in the area.
